BEGINNING OF SHIVA GITA

INTRODUCTION TO SHIVA GiTA:

The Meaning of the Shiva Gita is The Song of Bhagwaan Shiva (The supreme soul). There are many scriptures in our Sanatan Dharma, which teach us the path of salvation, although It didn’t gain popularity like Bhagvat Geeta.
There are 28 Geeta in our Sanatan Dharma like Shiva Geeta, Ishwara Geeta, Ganesh Geeta, Rigbhu Geeta, Bhagwat Geeta, Ram Geeta, Devi Geeta, Astawakara Geeta, etc. We need to identify which one of the right Geeta for us to apply in our daily life and path to salvation (Moksha). Shiva Geeta is very special in our all scriptures in Sanatan Dharma. Shiva Geeta is the path to Salvation.

BEGINNING OF SHIVA GITA

Shiva Gita vs Bhagwat Geeta

BEGINNING OF SHIVA GITA

It needs to be mentioned explicitly here cannot be a comparison between Shiva Gita with Bhagwat Geeta. Both Geetas are authentic and taught us the concept of the art of living and the path of karma and salvation (moksha) as also How to lead Life, and how to deal with lust, anger, jealousy, etc.

Bhagwat Geeta is the Vedic scripture that teaches all round sacred wisdom from Upanishads but it doesn’t that Shiva Geeta is inferior to that. On the other hand, Shiva Geeta primarily focuses on preaching about lord Shiva who is the Parambharm of Vedas, and it only reveals the path to salvation sailing with the sailor called “Shiva”.

For a normal Sanatani or Hindu who doesn’t have a sectarian mindset will start their journey from Shiva Geeta which will be a good source of wisdom. Shiva Geeta is the summary of the scriptures. For a devotee of Bhagwaan Shiva or who practices SHAIVISM It would be a great treasure. Therefore, it has to be understood clearly that comparison between Geetas is an absurd activity and everyone is expected to learn from this text and remain blissful in the devotion of SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD – Lord Shivshakti! The whole cosmos is the Temple of Lord Shiva.

Bhagwat Geeta

It is a fact that Bhagwat Geeta has achieved such widespread recognition because people have spread it across the world by translating it not only into all the Indian Languages but also into foreign Languages. Whereas Shiva Gita has only in all the Indian languages. Shiva Gita caught the attention of people since it presents in a Purana and does not present a famous epic but rarely analyzes Puranas. Shiva Gita skipped gaining popularity among the masses due to the same reason even though both the Gita is believed to be documented by Veda Vyasa himself.

The Era of Shiva Gita

Shiva Gita belongs to the Ramayana Era of Treta Yuga while Bhagwat Geeta belongs to the Mahabharata era of Dwapar yuga. So, Shiva Geeta precedes Bhagwat Geeta in time. However, there are many examples in Shiva Gita which are different from the examples in Valmiki Ramayana. But one thing which is common is in Valmiki Ramayana as well as Shiva Gita, It is the same sage Agastya who becomes the preceptor of Rama.
In Valmiki Ramayana, he preaches ‘Aditya Hrudayam’, and In Shiva Gita, he preaches him Viraja-Deeksha Austerity. So, these differences in stories between Valmiki Ramayana and Shiva Gita could be understood as due to ” Kalpa Bheda” which means these might belong to different time periods. The authenticity of Shiva Geeta is definitely a text worth learning since the verses are not self-cooked verses. Shiva Gita also exists in Upanishads like Svetawsatara, Atharvasiras, Kaivalaya, etc. Hence it is equal to reading the verses of the Upanishads. So Shiva Geeta is the Boon to Humans and other living beings in this universe. Shiva Geeta is included Shiva Yoga or Shiv Tattwa.

Shiva Geeta is based on personal interest and choice but reading spiritual matters always benefits and increases the devotion towards our Beloved God (MAHADEVA). Shiva is OM. Shiva is Everything.
