Kurukshetra, yes this is the same land where the epic battle of Mahabharata took place in 5600 BC. Do you know that in this war 1530900 soldiers fought on behalf of the Pandavas and 2405700 soldiers on behalf of the Kauravas? In this war, the commander of Pandavas was Dhrishtaghumna and the commander of Kauravas was Bhishma. There was a huge massacre in this war.
It is said that about 1 crore people were killed in the war of Mahabharata. A large number of warriors attained Veergati in the Mahabharata war which lasted for 18 days. You will be surprised to know that the number of warriors who survived this war was so less that they can be counted on fingers. Among those who survived the war of Mahabharata were Shri Krishna, Arjuna, Bhima, Yudhishthira, Nakula, Sahadeva, Satyaki, and Yuyutsu on the Pandava side. While only three warriors were left alive in the Kaurava army, in which Ashwasthama, Kripacharya, and Krita Varma.
The land of Kurukshetra is full of mysteries
Kurukshetra is the same land of gods which has been described in detail in ancient texts. This is the same place where Parshuram ji killed so many Kshatriyas to avenge his father’s murder that five ponds were filled with their blood. These pools filled with blood later miraculously turned into water. It is said that these water reservoirs are so sacred that their water is considered like nectar.
King Kuru, the progenitor of the Kuru dynasty, ploughed this land with a golden plough
This is the land of Kurukshetra whose land was plowed with the golden plough. Do you know who was that king who plowed the land here with a golden plow? King Kuru, the son of King Samvaran, famous for his fame, had plowed this Kurukshetra land many times with a plow made of golden metal. Due to this this land, which was already blood-stained before the war of Mahabharata, became holy and fertile again.
In the year 1017, Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked and tried to erase the identity of this place, but it is impossible to do any harm to such a place where Lord Krishna himself irrigated the whole earth with his speech. The land of Kurukshetra is situated at 48 kos i.e. 145 km. Apart from Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Jind, etc. places come in this area. The land of Kurukshetra is that supernatural place in this entire creation which is also described in Rigveda and Yajurveda. The water of the Adi river Saraswati here is like nectar. Which appeared for the welfare of the people living on the earth.
Shri Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple, where Lord Shankar himself appeared to bless Arjuna
There is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva on the land of Kurukshetra. This temple is Shri Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple. Which has played a very important role in the Mahabharata period. This is the temple where the Pandavas kept gaining self-strength during the war of Mahabharata. It is said that when Lord Shri Krishna and the five Pandavas praised Lord Shiva in this temple, Mahadev himself appeared and blessed him with ‘Vijayi Bhava’.
Jyotisar in Haryana, where Lord Krishna preached the Gita to Arjuna
Apart from the Shri Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple pilgrimage site, there are Brahma Sarovar, Bhadrakali Temple, Jyotisar, etc. on the land of Kurukshetra. Jyotisar of Haryana state is the same place where Lord Shri Krishna preached Gita to Arjuna. Even today, a crowd of tourists is formed upon seeing this place. Pandit Ved Vyas, a great scholar of India, has put the war of Mahabharata in Kurukshetra in the lines of poetry. Whoever reads it becomes mesmerized. Ved Vyas, the great scholar of Sanskrit, has done work as important as bringing the Ganga to earth by tying the Mahabharata war of Kurukshetra in verses. He has described the world’s biggest war Mahabharata in 1,40,000 verses.
Mahabharata war was described by Mahabhuta Ved Vyas in his epic
This epic is written in the Sanskrit language. Reading shows that the great poet Ved Vyas had the divine power to compose. It is said that the great poet Ved Vyas was greatly blessed by Ganesha. Somewhere in the Puranas, it is also mentioned that Lord Ganesha himself got the Mahabharata written by speaking.
Although this Mahagranth was composed by Maharishi Ved Vyas ji and Ganesh ji had scripted this epic, this is a universal fact.
