According to the Hindu Panchang, the 30 days of the month are divided into two parts of 15-15 days based on the moon phase – Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. The last day of Shukla Paksha is called Purnima and the last day of Krishna Paksha is called Amavasya.
